The Railroad Museum of New England is a not-for-profit educational and historical organization, founded in 1968. We operate the Naugatuck Railroad, offering fun and scenic train rides throughout the year.

Fall Foliage & Pumpkin Patch Train:
Take a trip and enjoy the wonderful views and colors of autumn throughout the upper Naugatuck Valley. These special trains will bring you down to Waterville, where the beautiful Naugatuck River closely follows the tracks, crossing under in several places allowing for great views of the river and surrounding scenery.

During the Pumpkin Patch trains, visitors will be able to still view much of the fall foliage south of the Station, along with making a stop at the RMNE’s very own pumpkin patch. Here, kids will be able to go out and select their very own pumpkin to bring home. This ride is very popular, especially among younger kids and runs in the weeks leading up to Halloween.

Northern Lights/Santa Express:
Seating in our 1891 Rutland Railroad car with plush seating (limited to 32 reserved seats) seasonally decorated inside and out. Longer visits with Santa for each child. Visit by Santa with hand-delivered gifts. Hot chocolate service in special travel mugs, Elf leads sing-along to Christmas Carols. Visit with Mrs. Claus and the elves. Gift Bag with additional information and goodies. Due to the historic nature of the car, we kindly ask that no outside food or drink be brought aboard.
