The home of renowned abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” is rumored to be haunted. Witnesses have reported window shades opening on their own in the parlor and have heard footsteps all over the building. Flashes of light have also been seen coming from the bedrooms, along with an apparition in the visitor's center. The home has been featured on TV’s Ghost Hunters.
