Mark Twain House
351 Farmington Ave.
Hartford, CT 6105
Hartford, CT 6105
The Mark Twain House was once the home of the Clemens Family, including author Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain). The family's butler is rumored to be the cause of the hauntings in the home. George Griffin was his name and he reportedly knocks and makes loud banging sounds. Phantom cigar smells have also been detected, along with voices, apparitions and reports of clothing being tugged on by something unseen. The location has been featured on an episode of TV's Ghost Hunters.
