There are three Colonial buildings that make up the Milford Historical Society and they all are believed to be haunted. The Eells-Stow House is the oldest of the three and is rumored to be haunted by former occupant and heroic town doctor, Captain Stephen Stow. He died in 1777 after taking care of 200 soldiers who were suffering from smallpox. Some believe they can feel the doctor's presence at the home and electronic voice phenomena has been recorded. Disembodied voices and invisible spirits are believed to haunt the 1785 Bryan-Downs House. People that visit the home have reported entities that physically touch them. And the third home, the 1659 Clark-Stockade House is reported to have similar strange occurrences, including one of ghostly babies crying.
