John York Home
North Stonington, CT 6359
The John York Home was built in 1741 as a residence for businessman and farmer John York and his family. The location was later turned into an inn and tavern, which it operated as for over 250 years. Legend says that two soldiers got into a fight here after finding out they both loved the same woman. One man stabbed the other to death, before running out and killing himself. The floorboards had to be ripped up and replaced after the blood stains strangely could not be removed. The man's spirit began to appear as a shadowy form along with cold spots and eerie noises.
